Work is commencing on the construction of the new Prairie Estates Subdivision located next to the golf course. The project has a scheduled completion date of October 2008. Once completed, the new subdivision will contain 17 extra large lots that will be available for purchase from the city. Those interested in building a new home in Pocahontas should inquire the city about building in our newest subdivision.

Currently the city is in the process of developing the new Pocahontas Business Park. The park is located on the north side of town west of the airport. Once completed, the 75 acre parcel will include up to 20 lots that are available for existing or prospective business to build on in Pocahontas, Currently there are three lots that are all ready occupied in the new business park and the city expects the remaining to fill up quickly.

This past season, the pool has received a number of upgrades and improvements . The old pool heater was removed and replaced with two brand new heaters that will let pool staff maintain constant pool temperature of around 80 degrees for the entire season. The gigantic pool filter, from the Great Depression era, was also replaced with two smaller filters.

Pocahontas received a much needed facelift this past summer. With the help of Marketing Solutions, the city was able to launch a new website and come up with a more modern looking logo for the city. The website highlights why Pocahontas is a such a great community to live, work and play.
