Movie Theatre - Downtown Pocahontas
On September 3, 1939, the Rialto Theatre opened on Main Street, Pocahontas. Then in the late 80's, after nearly 50 years of entertaining the community, it closed its doors to the public. In May of 1992, over 100 people met to discuss the possibility of reopening the Rialto. It was suggested that it be a multipurpose movie/live entertainment theatre to enhance the quality of life in Pocahontas County. Three years later, in May of 1995, the Rialto Theatre reopened its doors and began showing movies again. The Rialto Theatre had its Grand Opening on June 22, 1995 and hosted the premiere screening of Pocahontas.
